SPILLED MILK COMPANY
We have included answers to some of the most commonly asked questions below.
When should I order a cake?
All of our cakes are made to order so we ask that you order at least three weeks in advance for single-tier cakes. For large orders, we require at least six weeks' notice. As always, the earlier the better because there is a chance we are fully booked or sold out and therefore are not able to fulfill your order. We accept orders based on our booking availability — books are filled on a first come first serve basis. In the unlikely event that we can not fulfill your order, you will be notified ASAP and a full refund will be issued automatically.

Can I cancel or change my order?
Cancellations: Clients may cancel an order with more than 30 days advance notice from the fulfillment date for a full refund. If the order is canceled within 30 days from the fulfillment date, no refund will be issued.

Order Changes: If clients want to change certain parts of their order, we require 21-day minimum advance notice from the fulfillment date. No changes can be made within those 21 days.

Date Change: Clients can change the date of cake pickup with more than 21 days advance notice ONLY to a date that comes after the original date of pickup inputted in the cake order. The date can not be rescheduled or changed to an earlier date from the original date of pickup inputted in the cake order. No more rescheduling changes can be made within 21 days of cake pickup.

Do you ship your cakes?
Not at this time.

Can I customize a cake design?
Yes, each cake design is unique to each customer. When filling out the Custom Order form, explain in detail what your vision is for your cake/event, provide details on theme and colors.
Fulfillment is not guaranteed and is determined by the client’s design request/theme, booking date, and Spilled Milk Company's booking availability. We ask our clients to allow our cake designers to have artistic freedom to create a one-of-a-kind cake for you.
Price will be determined by the cake size and overall design, which will be transparently communicated to the client before finalizing the order.

How much does a cake cost?
The overall price is determined by the cake design and size.

Why are your cakes so expensive?
1) We use real, fresh quality ingredients.

2) We are a small business, everything is made to order from scratch in-house. Nothing is mass or machine produced therefore, our cakes, packaging, and accent pieces are individually handcrafted with care to our highest standards. We are not a “fast-food” cake shop where things are pre-made and ready to go. You are essentially buying a work of art — like any other artist, we pride ourselves in making delicious works of art just for our clients.

3) Prices not only reflect the staff’s dedication to the craft, but it also reflects Spilled Milk Company's true production and operational costs which, includes the cost of supporting our own staff with a livable wage to the best of our abilities.

Cake care, serving instructions, and how to keep it fresh?
Keep the cake refrigerated. We find the cake tastes the best just below room temp — leave the cake out for 1 hour - 2 hours at room temp before serving.

Do not leave the cake out under direct sunlight or let it sit out at room temp for more than 3 hours. The cake may end up losing its shape and stability.

Wrap leftovers in plastic wrap before refrigerating — make sure the plastic wrap is flush against the exposed cake to lock the moisture in. To prevent any external food odors from tarnishing the cake flavor, wrap aluminum foil over the plastic-wrapped cake. This is the best way to keep the cake moist and fresh. Consume within 3 days.
